Pirates fare well at Blue Devil Invite

CORVALLIS — Morgan Delaney swept the girls’ longest races and Polson won three boys events to highlight the Pirates’ efforts at the Blue Devil Invitational track and field meet Saturday.
Delaney, a junior, won the 1,600 meters in 5 minutes. 13.65 seconds; teammate Kimora Scott was third at 5:47.20. Delaney also won the 3,200 in 11:28.38. Her only competition in that race was her freshman sister Quinn, who clocked 11:50.04.
The Lady Pirates were third in the short relay and second in the long relay and scored 66 points, which put them third out of 14 girls teams. Frenchtown won with 102 and Corvallis was second at 84.
Corvallis won the boys team title with 96 points; Hamilton (72) and Darby (68) were second and third.
Polson was fifth at 55, one point behind Frenchtown. The Pirates saw junior Jackson Bontadelli win the 800 in 2:06.21 and senior David DiGiallonardo take the 3,200 in an impressive 9:37.03.
Dion Lichtenberg gave Polson a third win with a javelin throw of 152 feet, 6 inches.
John Sherry added a second in the shot put.
Ronan had a handful of athletes at the meet including William Normandeau, who was third in the boys 400, and Antoinette Adams, who took third in the 300 hurdles.
