Krystal Manley embraces new opportunities.
“Every time I’ve stepped outside my comfort zone, I’ve grown, professionally and personally, and that will continue to be true,” she said.
When Manley moved to Moscow to continue her studies at the University of Idaho after earning an associate degree in communications at North Idaho College, she was on her own for the first time with her 18-month-old son in tow. She said her experiences as a young mom shaped her more than anything else.
“Balancing school and motherhood pushed me to prioritize my time, stay focused and work hard to create the life he deserved,” she said.
Manley had her second son two weeks after she graduated from U of I. Her boys remain her biggest motivation.
“They’re the reason I keep striving for more every day,” she said.
In college, Manley discovered an interest in human behavior and ultimately earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She began her career as a behavior therapist, spending almost a decade helping children build communication and daily living skills.
“Watching them grow in confidence and develop tools that made their everyday lives easier was incredibly rewarding,” she said.
These days, Manley is a multi-media account executive with KXLY Brands. She said this new career path allows her to use her background in psychology and communication while also pushing her to learn and grow in new ways.
“I’m still able to help people, which has always been important to me,” she said. “But now, I also get to help local businesses thrive by building effective marketing campaigns that support their growth. Being able to combine my passion for helping others with strengthening our local economy has made this the best career move I’ve ever made.”
After a year in the industry, she’s found that every project, campaign, and client partnership adds another layer to her understanding of how to build effective, creative campaigns.
“I’m excited to keep growing my skills so I can continue bringing real value to the businesses I work with,” she said. “Every day teaches me something new that helps my clients succeed.”
“I truly love working as an account executive,” she said. “The creativity, the relationship building and the connection with the community all reinforce that this is where I belong.”
She said she’s also excited to watch her boys enter new chapters like graduating high school, exploring careers, gaining independence, and discovering who they want to be.
“Being present for those moments will always matter most to me,” Manley said.
