Colin passed away at his residence in Spokane on March 19, 2026.

Colin Keith Couey was born April 1, 1949, in Mauston, Wis., to Rowynaine and Marjorie Couey. In 1955, the family moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where Colin attended Winton Elementary School. In high school, he was a member of the chess team.

Colin joined the Army in 1969 during the Vietnam War. He spent two years in Germany before he was put on a plane to Vietnam on his 21st birthday. He never talked about his time in the Army, but he brought back gifts for his parents and sisters.

In 1985, he met and fell in love with Cynthia (Cindy) Ann and her three kids. Although they didn’t get married until Nov. 25, 2006, they were together until her passing May 29, 2017.

Colin loved anything related to history and classic cars. He loves going to car shows and riding his Harley (his prized possession). He would ride year-round if the weather permitted, and just this year, he was able to say he had finally managed to ride his bike through all seasons. He also loved taking trips with the kids to ghost towns and cemeteries.

His other great love was his dog, Aggatha (Aggie), whom he loves to take on walks, spoil and wrestle with.

Colin was preceded in death by his parents, Rowynaine and Marjorie, his sister, Gloria (Millsap), and his wife, Cindy.

He is survived by his sister, Sheryl Deskins (J), his stepchildren, Angela McCall (Ben), Teisha Mathis and Ryan Mathis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christian, Devin, Shannon, Austin, Ethan, Elizabeth and Calvin.
