The Libby Lady Loggers used timely hitting and a strong middle innings surge to secure a 7-5 win over Frenchtown on Saturday.

After falling behind early, Libby responded with a three-run third inning and added key insurance runs in the seventh to pull away against the Class A defending state champs. The Loggers finished with nine hits and capitalized on Frenchtown miscues to take control.

Tessa Purdy led the offensive effort, going 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Hadleigh Wood also played a key role at the top of the lineup, scoring twice while adding a hit, an RBI and a double.

Dakota Allen contributed a pair of hits and drove in an RBI, while Weslee MacDonald added two hits.

The Loggers were aggressive on the basepaths, racking up multiple stolen bases, including four from MacDonald.

In the circle, Maddie Willis pitched three innings and allowing one run on two hits while striking out four. Weslee MacDonald started the game, giving up three runs over two innings, and Carmen Kohler closed it out, allowing one run over the final two innings.

Frenchtown finished with five hits.

Libby (1-0) returns to action Tuesday, hosting Eureka.
