Nonprofit makerspace seeks volunteers to join board

The Making Place, a volunteer-powered makerspace in Columbia Falls, invites community members to apply for its board of directors as it continues to grow across Flathead Valley.  

Dedicated to providing shared creative space, tools and programming, the nonprofit is seeking passionate individuals eager to help shape a community-driven hub for making, learning and connection. Board members play an active role in guiding the organization’s vision, supporting operations and expanding access to creative resources, while helping strengthen an inclusive “third space” centered on collaboration and creativity. 

The Making Place welcomes motivated and inspired individuals of all backgrounds, whether bringing professional experience or a strong willingness to learn.  

Operating as a working board, the organization is structured around nine committees and four officer roles, with each committee led by a chair and supported by board and volunteer members. The current board of seven directors is expanding to twelve, with an emphasis on filling the following five committee lead positions: volunteer, treasurer/finance, development, outreach and membership.
