Eight Vandals show out at pro day
MOSCOW — Eight Idaho football alums showcases their skills before scouts representing teams from the NFL and CFL on Monday at the Kibbie Dome.
The NFL's Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, and Green Bay Packers were in attendance alongside the CFL's BC Lions to witness the Vandals run combine and positional drills.
Nate Azzopardi, Elisha Cummings, Isiah King, Xander Echols, Zach Krotzer, Maurice Heims, Donovan Parham and Jhamell Blenman participated.
Krotzer's time of 7.58 seconds in the three-cone drill would have been far and away the fastest of all defensive tackles at the NFL Combine. Blenman's 19 reps in the bench press was more than any defensive back put up, and Azzopardi's 28 reps in the same would have been the fifth most of all offensive lineman in Indianapolis.
Boise native Fiedler entering transfer portal after one season at Boise State
Boise State junior forward Drew Fielder intends to enter the transfer portal, he told the Idaho Statesman on Monday afternoon.
That will mean Fielder, a Boise native who began his high school career at Rocky Mountain High in Meridian before transferring to a Southern California prep school, came home for just one season. The 6-foot-11 forward confirmed over the phone that he plans to go into the portal, which opens officially on April 7, but declined to comment further.
ESPN first reported that Fielder was going to transfer.
In his one season with the Broncos, Fielder led the team in scoring (14.7 per game) and rebounding (5.7), and also total blocks (17). He started in 30 of 32 games for the Broncos and also led all regular contributors in field goal percentage (54.7%). Fielder will have one year of eligibility remaining wherever he lands.
Fielder began his college basketball career at Georgetown in the Big East, and appeared in all 63 possible games across two seasons for the Hoyas. He made the jump to Boise State ahead of the 2025-26 season, calling it an “honor” to play for the team he rooted for as a kid.
