MULLAN — With a small but committed roster, the Mullan golf program enters the spring season focused on individual improvement and steady development under head coach Ben Clark.

Clark has been with the program for nearly a decade, giving him familiarity with both the school and the golfers he now coaches.

“This is my 2nd year as head coach,” Clark said. “I was assistant coach for several years before that. I am very much looking forward to the upcoming season.”

Returning Experience

Mullan returns two golfers from last season, both of whom bring valuable tournament experience into the spring. Junior Cambria Wilson and sophomore Clayton Wilson are back for their second year in the program, providing continuity and a foundation to build on.

As their competitive exposure increases, Clark said he expects to see measurable progress throughout the season.

“As their tournament experience continues to grow, I look forward to seeing how their individual scores improve,” he said.

New Addition

The Tigers add one new face to the roster this season with junior Hayden Haas joining the program. With a small team, each athlete plays an important role, and Clark said the emphasis will be on developing consistency and confidence across all golfers.

Season Focus

Rather than setting specific win‑loss benchmarks, Mullan’s goals center on growth over the course of the schedule.

“I expect to see much growth and individual improvement over the course of the season,” Clark said.

That mindset reflects the program’s emphasis on fundamentals, course management and learning from each competitive round.

Coaching Continuity

Clark is again joined by assistant coach Paul Elston, whose experience adds stability to the program.

“Paul Elston is returning as our assistant coach this year,” Clark said. “He has many years of golf coaching experience and, like me, has spent many years both playing and coaching golf. Our combined coaching experience will benefit our golfers greatly. We have coached together for several prior seasons and I look forward to continuing to work together.”

League Outlook

Mullan competes in a large league made up of the smaller schools in the region, including fellow 1As up to 3As, this adds a level of variety to the tournament schedule.

“Our league is comprised of many schools,” Clark said. “I wish all the schools in our league a successful season, and I look forward to the beginning of our golf tournament schedule.”

As the season begins, Mullan’s approach remains simple: gain experience, lower scores and continue building the program one round at a time.
