Troy athletes shine at Spring Fever meet in Eureka

The Troy track and field team got started on Friday at the Spring Fever Track and Field Meet, highlighted by multiple event wins and top-three finishes on both the boys and girls sides.

Leading the way for the Troy girls was freshman standout Aspen Orr, who delivered a dominant day. Orr won three events, taking first in the 200 meters (28.71) and 400 meters (1:05.39) while also claiming the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 1 inch. She capped her performance with another first-place finish in the triple jump at 32-5.

Distance runner Jaylee Meyers also had a big meet for Troy, sweeping the distance races. Meyers won the 800 meters in 2:54.90 and followed that with a victory in the 1,600 meters at 6:40.99.

In the sprints and jumps, Jessie Heileson added a pair of strong finishes, placing third in the 100 meters (15.14) and third in the 200 (30.82), while also taking fourth in the long jump (13-10). Teammate Sylvia Hofer placed seventh in the 100 and added a sixth-place finish in the long jump.

Troy also found success in the field events. Toryn Witmer cleared 4-1 to tie for second in the high jump, while Shyanne Manley placed sixth in the shot put (22-8) and added a ninth-place finish in the discus.

On the boys side, Michael Gillespie led the Trojans with a standout performance across multiple events. Gillespie placed third in the 200 meters (26.51), finished second in the 400 meters (1:00.89), and won the triple jump with a mark of 35-6. He also added a runner-up finish in the long jump (17-8.5).

Eric Stanton contributed on both the track and in the field, placing sixth in the 400 meters and adding a top-10 finish in the long jump.

In the throwing events, Conner Powell recorded a pair of strong finishes, taking fourth in the shot put (33-9) and second in the discus (82-10.75). Daniel Rebo added depth with a fourth-place finish in the discus and fifth in the javelin.

Troy returns to action Friday at the ARM in Whitefish.
