The Troy Lady Trojans couldn’t have asked for a stronger start to the season, using a potent combination of pitching and hitting to sweep Deer Lodge and Anaconda and improve to 4-0 over the weekend.

Troy opened play Friday with a doubleheader sweep of Deer Lodge, winning 17-2 and 21-0 in decisive fashion.

Claira Folkerts and Halle Wallace led the way in the circle. Folkerts tossed three innings in the opener, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out four. Wallace followed with four innings of work, giving up two hits and four walks while striking out nine.

The Lady Trojans’ offense matched the dominance in the circle. In the 17-2 win, Kirsti Jellesed drove in four runs, setting the tone early. Troy followed that up with an even more explosive performance in the nightcap, where Ellie Borgmann delivered a three-hit game that included a double and a triple while scoring four runs in the 21-0 victory.

Troy carried that momentum into Saturday against Anaconda. Folkerts again controlled the game in the circle, throwing three innings in a 16-1 win. She allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out six as the Trojans secured their third win of the weekend.

The final game of the weekend turned into an offensive showcase. Troy outslugged Anaconda 24-13 in a high-scoring affair that saw both teams combine for 37 runs.

The Lady Trojans collected timely hits throughout, highlighted by a standout performance from Hailey Dungan. Dungan went off at the plate, recording three doubles and a triple while driving in five runs in the win.

For the weekend, Dungan was nearly unstoppable, going 11-for-16 with seven extra-base hits and 11 RBIs.

Ellah Wallace also delivered a big weekend offensively, finishing 7-for-11 with two doubles, a triple and an inside-the-park home run.

Troy returns to action Friday at Mission.
