Despite being taken to the hospital, a motorist had the sense of mind to phone the Kalispell Police Department and ask that they refrain from towing his Ford F-150. He had left it in a two-hour parking spot when he was whisked away for medical care. Officers were notified of the situation.
A thief made off with a mountain bike that the owner valued at about $150.
Concerned that the noise she heard was a gunshot, an apartment dweller phoned the police. She said she then overheard several neighbors talking about shooting a gun in a public area in the complex and suspected they had fired the weapon. Officers spoke to at least one other resident of the complex who did not recall hearing gunfire. Investigators noted that the neighborhood around the complex was busy and no one else reported hearing a gun go off.
Seeing a lifted Ford F-350 travel erratically while headed north on U.S. 93, a motorist alerted the authorities. They told dispatchers that the oversized rig had turned left off the highway. They were willing to sign a complaint.
Suspicious of a dark blue Hyundai left running all day on the east side of a parking lot, the manager of a nearby business asked officers to investigate.
A different vehicle in another parking lot also raised concerns. A caller to the police that someone had been sitting in it since about 9 a.m. and asked that officers make sure the motorist was OK. It turned out that the motorist was stranded after running out of gas and was waiting for someone to bring him fuel.
Officers tracked down a man that a passerby claimed was yelling about shooting people as he ran down an alleyway behind a house. The man told the police he was yelling about a dog. Officers found no weapons on him.
After neighbors complained, officers counseled a homeless person about going into strangers’ yards. The neighbors said the individual had gone door-to-door on the south end of Kalispell and asked to use the phone.
