Libby track and field turns in strong marks at trio of invites

Libby’s Tristan Andersen won the boys javelin and the Loggers had several other top finishes Saturday at the Columbia Falls Iceberg Invitational at the Mike Nicosia Track and Field Complex.
Andersen led Libby’s boys by winning the javelin with a throw of 164 feet, 9 inches. He also placed fourth in the high jump at 5-10.
Libby teammate Urijah Bache added a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 146-8, while Cody Watson had two strong distance performances. Watson placed second in the 1,600 meters in a season-best 4:36.21 and third in the 800 in a season-best 2:08.18.
Libby also scored well in the pole vault. Gabe Kosters placed second at 11 feet, Ledger Fortner was fifth with a personal-best 10-6, Bridger Moe was sixth at 10-6 and Bache was 10th at 9 feet. Porter Hollingsworth added a third-place finish in the junior varsity pole vault at 9-6, while Colter Anderson was ninth at a season-best 8-6.
Anderson also placed 12th in the varsity 200 in a personal-best 25.12.
The Libby boys placed fourth in the 400 relay, with Kosters, Fortner, Anderson and Andersen finishing in 45.63. The Loggers were sixth in the 1,600 relay, with Fortner, Anderson, Kosters and Watson finishing in 3:42.35.
In junior varsity distance races, Andrew Duran placed third in the 800 in 2:41.30 and third in the 1,600 in a personal-best 5:39.67. Adrien Holzer was seventh in the JV 1,600 in 5:55.22.
Talon Nordwick had a strong day in the JV throwing events, placing fourth in the discus with a personal-best 93-5 and eighth in the shot put with a personal-best 31-3. Moe was sixth in the JV javelin at 102-3, while Thomas Nelson was seventh with a personal-best 100-1.
For the Libby girls, Hailey Misner led the way on the track. Misner placed second in the 400 meters in a personal-best 1:02.75 and sixth in the 100 in a season-best 13.43.
Ava Jensen placed sixth in the 800 in a personal-best 2:50.68 and 11th in the 1,600 in 6:26.24. Evalyn Cliff placed sixth in the JV 100 in a personal-best 14.76 and second in the JV 300 hurdles in a season-best 54.70.
Sarah Kosters placed sixth in the 100 hurdles in 21.58, fifth in the JV javelin at 67-11, 11th in the JV pole vault at 5-6 and fourth in the JV long jump at 12-10.5. Krisign Huff added a third-place finish in the JV shot put at 25-5, fourth in the JV discus at 65-4 and 10th in the JV javelin at 56-3.
Elizabeth Wiederhold placed ninth in the JV 400 in a personal-best 1:28.65 and 10th in the JV 800 in a personal-best 3:39.28.
Top 10 Meet
In the prestigious Top 10 meet Tuesday at Missoula, Libby’s top performers competed against many of the best from Class AA and A.
In the javelin, senior Tristan Andersen was a runner-up to AA Helena’s Auston Rowe, who threw it 170 feet, 9 inches. Andersen’s best heave was 167 feet, 5 inches.
For the girls, junior Hailey Misner was sixth in the 400 run and sophomore Capri Farmer was third in the 3200 run.
Eureka Elite Top 8
Libby’s Colter Anderson won the boys 400, and teammate Urijah Bache won the javelin.
Bache’s throw of 147 feet, 11 inches was a personal best. Libby had four of the top five javelin throwers. Hannah was third at 115 feet, 7 inches, freshman Thomas Nelson was fourth at 108-4 and senior Gabe Kosters was fifth at 107-10.
Ledger Fortner collected three seconds in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and long jump for the Loggers. Eighth-grader Hudson Hannah was fourth in the 400 run and junior Bridger Moe was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.
In the field events, freshman Talon Nordwick was fourth in the shot put. In the pole vault, Kosters, Bache and Moe were second through fourth.
Sophomore Porter Hollingsworth was third in the triple jump at 33-6 1/2.
For the girls, eighth-grader Reagan Vincent was third in the 400, Ava Jensen was third in the 1,600 and Elizabeth Wiederhold was fourth in the 800. In the hurdles, sophomore Evalyn Cliff was second in the 300 and fourth in the 100.
In the field events, Krisign Huff was third in the shot put, Sarah Kosters was third in the javelin, Vincent was second in the pole vault.
