Loggers top Ronan after loss to Florence-Carlton

Libby baseball closed a busy week with a win Saturday, beating Ronan 9-3 after dropping games to Polson and Florence-Carlton.
The Loggers went 1-2 over the stretch and moved to 4-5 on the season.
Libby opened the week Tuesday with a 9-2 loss to Polson.
Libby returned to action Friday against Florence-Carlton and nearly completed a late rally before falling 7-5 at the Frenchtown Tournament.
The Falcons jumped ahead with one run in the first and four in the second and two more runs in the third for a 7-0 lead. Libby answered with two runs in the third and, after Florence-Carlton added two more in the sixth, the Loggers scored three in the bottom of the sixth to make it a two-run game.
Libby had nine hits, while Florence-Carlton had three hits. The Loggers also committed two errors.
Bransen Holzer led Libby at the plate, going 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Elijah Foulke, Ian Thom, Dalton Cannon, Boe Miles and Kale Hall each had a hit. Hunter Rooney drove in a run, while Thom also had an RBI. Miles had a double in the matchup as well.
Ian Thom took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs on one hit in two innings. Miles pitched four innings in relief, giving up two runs, one earned, on two hits while striking out five.
Libby bounced back Saturday in Frenchtown with a 9-3 win over Ronan.
The Loggers scored two runs in the second inning and then three runs in the fourth and fifth innings. They added an insurance run in the sixth. Ronan scored all three of its runs in the sixth.
Libby finished with 12 hits. Ronan had three runs on six hits with one error.
Holzer had another big game, going 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs. Dalton Cannon also had three hits and an RBI. Ian Thom went 1 for 3 with an RBI, while Elijah Foulke and Noah Gillespie drove in a run.
Blake Michalkiewicz started for Libby and threw four scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out three. Kale Hall pitched the final two innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out four.
The win gave Libby a strong finish to the week after back-to-back losses and kept the Loggers near .500 as they continued the regular season.
