Troy softball takes two of three, moves to 8-5

Troy softball picked up two wins in three games last week, beating Eureka before splitting a doubleheader with Bonners Ferry.

The Lady Trojans moved to 8-5 on the season.

Troy opened the stretch Thursday with a 9-7 win over Eureka. The Lady Trojans scored two runs in the first, one in the second, five in the third and one in the fourth to build enough cushion before holding off a late Lions push.

Troy finished with 13 hits.

Addyson Fisher led the Lady Trojans at the plate, going 3 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs. Ainsley Huitron was also strong, finishing 3 for 3 with three doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Ellah Wallace went 2 for 4 with two runs scored, while Allie Borgmann finished 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.

Claira Folkerts earned the win pitching, allowing seven runs, two earned, on three hits over five innings. Fisher threw two scoreless innings in relief, allowing no hits.

Troy then opened Saturday’s doubleheader against Bonners Ferry with a dominant 19-2 win in five innings.

The Lady Trojans broke the game open with an 11-run second inning. Troy added three runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth, finishing with 14 hits.

Addyson Fisher powered the offense again, going 4 for 5 with two triples, a double, three runs scored and four RBIs. Ainley Huitron went 2 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs.

Claira Folkerts finished 2 for 3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs. Ellah Wallace doubled, scored three runs and drove in one, while Hailey Dungan had a hit, scored once and drove in three runs. Halle Wallace added a double and two RBIs.

Halle Wallace earned the win, allowing two runs, both unearned, on three hits in five innings. She struck out four and walked one.

Bonners Ferry came back to win the second game Saturday, beating Troy 9-6.

The Badgers scored three runs in each of the first three innings to build a 9-2 lead. Troy answered with four runs in the fourth, but could not complete the comeback.

Troy finished with six runs on six hits, while Bonners Ferry had nine runs on five hits.

Ellah Wallace led Troy, going 2 for 4 with a triple, a run and two RBIs. Folkerts went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Addy Cox, Allie Borgmann and Ellie Borgmann also had hits.

Addyson Fisher took the loss, allowing nine runs, five earned, on five hits in 2 2/3 innings. Ainsley Huitron was strong in relief, throwing 3 1/3 scoreless innings without allowing a hit. She struck out four and did not walk a batter.
