Baseball: Bulldogs power past Pack

BUTTE — Logan Carden and Calvin Cunningham both tripled as Butte overcame an early deficit to down Glacier 11-5 in a Western AA baseball showdown Saturday.

Glacier (8-4) found four runs in the opening inning, highlighted by a single from Ethan Kim that scored Ryne Gillette. Kaeden Kahler, Brady Buckmaster and Teagan Dixon all scored on errors in the frame. 

Cunningham scored a pair in the bottom of the first for the Bulldogs (4-6) with his three-sacker to center field, cutting the Wolfpack lead to 4-3. 

Glacier added a run on a sacrifice fly from Brady Lewellen to extend the advantage to 5-3, but then the bats went cold. 

Kodye Kjersten tied the game in the fourth with a single that scored Troy Samson. Cayde Stajcar then gave Butte a 6-5 lead on a squeeze bunt. 

Carden and Stajcar both added two-run doubles in the fifth to extend Butte’s advantage. 

Chase Lubick threw 5 1-3 innings for the Bulldogs, allowing six hits and fanning six. Cole Solomon added 1 2-3 scoreless innings in relief. 

Falon Clark threw 1 1-3 scoreless innings for Glacier in relief, striking out two.
