House fire closes section of Daisy Street North in Soap Lake

SOAP LAKE — Drivers should avoid the area of Daisy Street North and First Avenue Northeast in Soap Lake due to a fire that caused heavy damage to a residence late Saturday morning.
Tim Babak, a captain with Grant County Fire District 7, said the fire started in the attic of the residence. Firefighters were still working the fire scene as of 1 p.m. Saturday and are expected to be on the scene most of Saturday afternoon, he said.
The fire was reported about 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Fire crews from the Ephrata Fire Department, Grant County Fire District 13 and Grant County Fire District 3 also responded to the scene.
