CLARK FORK — Idaho State Police is investigating a single vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 6:22 a.m. Saturday on Highway 200 near Clark Fork.

ISP troopers said a Hyundai Equus was eastbound on the highway when it veered off the roadway and struck a rock face. The vehicle was occupied by a 45-year-old female driver from San Pedro, Calif., and a 65-year-old male from Union City, Calif., according to ISP.

While the female driver was wearing her seatbelt, the male passenger was not. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance, the male passenger succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Next of kin has been notified.

Traffic on Highway 200 was down to one lane of travel for approximately four hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved, investigate, and clear the scene.

Evidence was found on scene to indicate that drugs and/or alcohol may have been involved in this crash, troopers said. That evidence is part of the ongoing investigation, ISP officials said.
