Barbara “Binnie” R. Maher peacefully passed away April 24, 2026, with family by her side. Binnie was born April 5, 1940, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Charles deVault and Catherine Spradley deVault. She was an identical twin with her sister, Winifred “Winnie” deVault.

Binnie was raised in Texas during early childhood, then moved to Lake Worth, Fla. She graduated from Lake Worth High School in 1958 and went on to attend Palm Beach Jr. College, where she earned a degree in medical assisting. As a young woman, she worked in the medical field and later in the banking industry in Boca Raton, Fla. It was in Boca Raton that she met the love of her life, John L. Maher, and they later married Aug. 3, 1963. In 1964, the two moved to Reno, Nev., where they welcomed their daughter, Toni Warden, in 1966. They went on to live in Elko, Las Vegas and back to Reno, Nev., before moving to Hayden, Idaho, in 1992.

Family and home life were Binnie’s true love. She and John shared 62 beautiful years of marriage. She was the most loving mother/grandmother a family could ask for. The Smile – Binnie was always smiling. She possessed a friendliness and kindness about her that everyone felt the moment she smiled (which was often). She appreciated all kinds of travel, fly fishing, camping, oil painting, water skiing, great food and wine, ladies' bowling, social gatherings, and time with loved ones. In both Reno and Hayden, she and John shared many days on the golf course, living their best lives; in fact, she made a hole-in-one while playing with the ladies’ group in 1987, which was a major claim to fame! Binnie, her loving heart and smile, will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Binnie is survived by her husband, John Maher; daughter Toni (late husband Michael) Warden; grandchildren Michael (Lauren) Warden, Jr., Mitchell Warden; great-grandchildren Owen and Olivia Warden, all of Reno, Nev. She was preceded in death by her sister, Winifred deVault, and beloved son-in-law, Michael Warden.

The family thanks the incredible staff at The Lodge in Post Falls, Idaho, and Auburn Crest Hospice for their unwavering dedication and care.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the local Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Binnie’s life well lived and beautiful smile.

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the final arrangements. Please visit Binnie’s online guestbook and sign her memorial at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
