Dorothy Elaine Robinson, 70, passed away on April 22, 2026, surrounded by her sister and family. She is in the Lord's hands after a slow decline in her health from multiple chronic health issues.
Dorothy was born on April 29, 1955, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Ralph and Darlene Robinson. She was the second of seven children. Being the second oldest, she was not just a sister, she was also a caregiver and babysitter. After the family moved around for the next few years, they settled in the Flathead Valley, where she spent most of her life. After graduating from Flathead High School, Dorothy enrolled in college at FVCC and then Montana State University.
In 1978, after college, she returned to the Flathead Valley, where she started her lengthy career in the food industry, with the most prevalent being the Park Inn, Cislo's, Sykes (for 23 years) and Logan Health/North Valley for 22 years. Working at North Valley in the beginning years gave her the opportunity to shine and enter cooking competitions, which, of course, she won, being the exceptional cook that she was. She always enjoyed cooking, and especially new recipes. One of her greatest pleasures was watching people enjoy her culinary delights.
Dorothy also spent multiple years helping her parents, Ralph and Darlene, with their multiple businesses. The one she enjoyed the most was going to Ogden, Utah, to sell Christmas trees, meeting new people and bragging that their trees come from one of the most beautiful places in the United States — Montana. She also spent many years selling fireworks and campground caretaking, which offered her the enjoyment of meeting and talking to new people.
Dorothy and her sister, Wanda Robinson-Little, had an incredibly special sibling bond, with each other being forever prevalent in the other's life. That bond allowed Dorothy to live with her sister for many of these past years.
Her legacy is one of warmth, generosity and unwavering love. Dorothy’s house used to be the house where the family gathered. She and Wanda especially enjoyed the presence of their beloved nieces and nephews, Tiffany Lipp, Mathew Robinson, Abigail Wade, Eric Robinson and Alicia Robinson, and all their countless friends.
She enjoyed quilting, reading and cooking. A cookbook was always present on every shelf in her house.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Wanda Robinson-Little (Ryan), Raymond Robinson (Diana), Bill Robinson, Kevin Robinson (Patsy) and Cliff Robinson (Amy) and other beloved family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Darlene Robinson and her brother, Herb Robinson (Debra).
Services to celebrate Dorthy's life will be held at 1 p.m. on May 21 at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home located at 525 Main St. in Kalispell.
