Alan Dane Kremer, 84, passed away peacefully Friday, April 24, 2026, with his wife and soulmate, Terrie, by his side.
He was born May 14, 1941, in Illinois and raised in California, graduating from Grossmont High School and San Diego State University. He worked for American Airlines, was district executive for Boy Scouts of America, and started his own companies in solar energy and marine services. His three kids were raised in California. He lived in Nevada for a time.
He moved to Sandpoint in 1991 and had businesses in trucking, snow removal, marine transport and trailer design. His fab shop employed up to 15 employees at one point, with both R&D and manufacturing capabilities. He was an entrepreneur, creator, and inventor with ideas well ahead of his time. Up until the end, Al was tinkering in his woodshop perfecting new musical instruments.
Al and Terrie met at a square dance at Jewel Lake Barn, where they later married in 2012. They were soulmates and shared a love of music, dance, creating and innovating. They fed off each other’s excitement for life and nurtured each other’s passions, encouraging growth and exploration wherever that took them.
Al’s interests were widespread. He was active in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, a founding member of the Sandpoint Ballroom Dance Club, square/round danced, played drums and taught clogging for the Albeni Falls Pipes and Drums, played banjo and percussion for a local Celtic/Irish group, and was the driving force behind his band, The Comfort Zone.
Al brought smiles and ideas to everyone he met, and we are still seeing some advanced concepts he mentioned coming to fruition. His kindness and generosity to others are treasured memories now, and his passing leaves an empty hole in many.
Al is survived by his wife, Terrie; her two kids, Dusty Kralik and Sandy [Matt] Williams; Al’s three kids, Daniel Kremer, Tammy Hay and Darrin Kremer; and five grandkids.
A celebration of life is being planned for later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family is collecting donations to give to a young musician Al knew so he can pursue his musical dreams.
Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Alan’s online memorial at lakeviewfuneral.com and sign his guest book.
