Betty Lou Hardegger, 87

Betty Lou Hardegger passed away April 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving friends and family. 

Betty was born Sept. 8, 1938, to Carl Willard and Alabama Nelson. Betty was the first of four children and was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Patricia, Colleen, and her brother, Ron. 

Betty married Charles Rutherford in 1957 and they had three children, Kim, Russ and Angie. Betty and Charles later divorced, and Betty married Francis Hiatt in 1969. Betty and Fran had a daughter, Nicole. Fran passed in 1979 and Betty married Marvin Hardegger and they were married for 44 years. Marvin passed in October of last year. 

Betty loved gardening, home remodeling and renovation and traveling, but most of all she loved spending time with friends and family. Betty was the consummate hostess and loved to entertain. She was a great cook and enjoyed trying new recipes. Betty was an avid reader and was especially fond of mystery and suspense novels, but also loved a romantic Hallmark movie. Betty loved playing cards, especially pinochle and bridge. 

Betty is survived by her children, Kim Mitchell (Richard), Russ Hiatt (Sulet), Angie Rutherford (Frank), Nicole Jeffres; and stepson Jeff Hardegger (Michelle). Betty is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. 

Betty was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend and she will be missed by all who knew her. 

A celebration of her long and full life will be planned for family and friends at a later date.
