MOSCOW — The Sandpoint Bullpups swim team, despite being outnumbered 46-16, took on the Bear Cubs and delivered a handful of impressive performances at the Moscow Middle School Invitational held Friday at the University of Idaho Swim Center.

Eighth-grader Myelle Jensen won the 100 IM (1:05.63), the 50 fly (29.31) and was a part of the 200 free mixed (1:54.06) and 200 medley mixed (2:08.18) winning relays. Josh Jackson, also an eighth-grader, was a part of both winning relays and was victorious in the 50 fly (37.73) and 100 free (52.15), as was seventh-grader Allyson Ballard, who picked up wins in the 100 free (59.42) and 50 free (26.28) for Sandpoint, which fell by a score of 136-110 in the combined team score standings.

Sandpoint Middle School head coach Emily Renzini said assistant coaches Addison Tyler, Summer Loutzenhiser, and Oliver Leavitt, members of a high school swim team, have played a key role in the Bullpups’ success this season.

"Their leadership and example have made a strong impact, helping create a positive and energetic environment where swimmers can thrive," coach Renzini noted. "That energy was evident during team sprints, where the swimmers’ enthusiasm translated into fast times and exciting races."

The Bullpups, which also got a win from seventh-grader Vienne La Fountain in the 50 breast (40.15), will wrap up their season this Friday at the Litehouse YMCA at 5:00 p.m. The team hopes community members will join them as they close out a memorable season.
