Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety program is excited to announce its latest round of grant awards, continuing its long-standing mission to support community-driven life safety projects.
By using the voluntary contributions of Co-op members who "round up" their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar, the program is providing funding to several local nonprofits working to enhance safety across Northwest Montana.
Last month, the Roundup for Safety Board of Directors awarded a total of $42,802 to life safety projects. Among the projects receiving support was the installation of a new backstop at ABS Park in Evergreen. With grant support for $12,000, this infrastructure improvement is designed to significantly improve safety for players and spectators alike by better containing errant balls during youth baseball and recreational games at the park. ABS Park hosts baseball, softball, and other community events, and is expanding with the addition of the Flathead Braves high school baseball program.
Other projects funded in this cycle include:
Whitefish Christian Academy – $4,000 for installation of security windows at the school
Bigfork School District – $12,000 for crosswalk updates and improved signage near schools
Ancient Traditions Summer Camp – $2,968 for an outdoor shelter to enhance safety during youth activities
Code Girls United – $1,200 for emergency kits
West Shore Community Library – $1,411 for an AED device
Flathead Area Mountain Bikers – $1,445 for protective equipment and safety gear
Flathead Rivers Alliance – $7,778 for river safety equipment and training programs
