Bobcats rise and shine at Bigfork meet

Ava White won both hurdles races with the girls and Landon Richards and George Hanson soared to wins in the high jump and the pole vault with the boys to lead the Superior Bobcats in the Bigfork Invitational Saturday.
White claimed the 100 meter hurdles in 16.69 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 48.16, in addition to winning a share of fifth place in the pole vault to lead the Lady Bobcats.
Richards, the leading high jumper in Montana high school track at any level, jumped a pedestrian 6-4 for him to win the event in Bigfork, in addition to taking fifth place in both hurdles races, clocking 16.96 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles and 44.35 seconds in the 300s.
For his part, Hanson cleared an impressive height of 14-3 to win the pole vault, where junior teammate Gannon Quinlan nailed down third place with another fine effort of 12-2.
Amarie Johnson won sixth place in the discus (121-7) to round out scoring for the Bobcat boys.
Maryisa Swope medaled in two events in Bigfork, winning second in the pole vault (with a best vault of 8-6) and third in the javelin (100-8), and Lily Jasper just missed placing in the triple jump with a best effort of 30-7.75.
The Superior girls finished sixth in team scoring with 35 points and the Bobcat boys tied for sixth with 32.
Coach Logan Labbe and his Bobcats are scheduled to participate in the KLH Invitational at MCPS Stadium in Missoula Saturday in the final weekend of the regular season in track and field.
