Dialed in: Plains thinclads to compete in Archie Roe

Plains coach Jesse Jermyn and his track and field teams are dialed in, focused on what is really important as the season moves toward its inevitable conclusion.
First, the District 7B meet in Eureka May 15; second the Western B Divisional meet in Missoula May 22-23; and finally, the ultimate event of the season, the State B meet, also in Missoula at MCPS Stadium, May 29-30, the exact time and place where Jermyn hopes to have his teams peaking.
In the final part of the regular season process, the Horsemen and Trotters will attend the ultra-highly competitive Archie Roe Meet in Kalispell Saturday, the last tune up before the post season.
“We are getting a little better every week, we set a lot more PRs (personal records) in Bigfork Saturday,” Jermyn said pointing to the State B meet as the game’s endpoint, the place where his athletes will put it all on the line the last time this season. “Until then we still have a month left to climb, a month left to get better in all our events.”
The Horsemen and Trotters looked ready for the challenge in the Bigfork Invitational Saturday, at the Elite 8 meet in Eureka last Tuesday, April 28, and some also excelled in the Top 10 meet in Missoula, also last Tuesday (see Sidelines for more on the Top 10).
In Bigfork for the Horsemen, John Owen Jermyn won the 1600 meters in 4:33.75, Cord Greer placed second in the 800 (in a personal-best time of 2:00.67), Cooper Meredith won second in the 110 meter hurdles (in 16.14) and third in the triple Jump (37-8), and Kalen Ercanback, Jackson Revier, Eddie Siebert and Greg Tatum teamed up to place fourth in the 1600 meter relay.
Tatum also put the shot a season-best 40-2.5 to finish seventh and just missed placing in that event as the Horsemen totaled 32 points and finished fifth in team scoring.
For the Trotters, who tallied 33 points, Savanah Costner won the 3200 meters (in 12:39.45), Kalli Tuma won second place in both hurdles races, Aubree Butcher took fifth place in the discus and in the javelin, and Katelyn Subatch won fifth place in the high jump.
Simeon Costner with the boys and Hadyn Rice with the girls did not compete for Plains in Bigfork due to other obligations.
At the Eureka Elite 8 meet April 28, even without several of their best athletes who were at the Top 10 meet in Missoula, Plains athletes scored heavily in almost every event with the boys registering 80 team points and the girls 90.
Highlights for Plains include Tatum winning the shot put and his joining Jack Cockrell, Tristan Allen and Siebert in winning the 1600 meter relay for the boys, and Tuma winning three events (the 100 meters and both hurdles races), and Savanah Costner (3200 meters) and Reese Meredith (200 meters) also winning events.
