Plains Alliance Church is taking advantage of this year’s building season with a major expansion that will add much-needed classroom space and storage facilities.

Jason Siebert, the church’s new senior pastor, is finishing his first year in the position. Siebert recently relocated from Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he served as an associate and youth pastor for 18 years.

“We are loving Plains, Montana. We really enjoy the community,” Siebert said. "So many groups use the gym. Our facilities are open to the community for volleyball, wrestling, basketball, pickleball, soccer, open gyms, coaching clinics and weddings. The addition will allow us to host more groups in that space for meetings or classes besides just gym activities.”

The expansion includes new youth classrooms and additional bathrooms connected to the gymnasium. A breezeway will also be constructed between the church and the gym, providing extra storage space.

The new space will enable Plains Alliance Church to accommodate an additional 40 or more individuals in the building. The $420,000 expansion is being funded through support from the church congregation, local individuals and organizations and foundation donations, including a grant from the Gianforte Family Foundation.

Construction is being handled by local contractor Tate Stinnett, owner of Stinnett Construction, along with his two sons. Stinnett said he hopes to have the project completed by the start of the school year.

Plains Alliance Church is located at 505 West 5th St., in Plains. For more information on the church, or to contribute to the expansion project, visit plainsalliancechurch.com or email [email protected].
