The Mineral County Rails to Trials annual clean up between Crystal Springs and Tarkio had assistance from the Mineral County Rec Club and other volunteers, including Doug and Dana Austin who provided the right-of-way known as the Austin Loop which is a section of the old Milwaukee Railroad bed that overlooks the Clark Fork River. This scenic route is fast becoming a favorite for bird watchers, hikers, bicyclists and a trio of turkey hunters from Missoula who came out just as the crew was going into work. New signs were being posted, and lunch was provided for volunteers. “What an absolutely gorgeous day for this to take place,” beamed Diane Magone, chair of the MCRTT
