Red Devils best Blue Devils for first win

Keep on putting in the time and playing hard between the lines and it is bound to pay off sometime.
Putting in the work and playing the game hard, the Noxon Red Devils were rewarded for all their hard work with their first baseball win of the season Saturday, a 16-14 victory over the host Blue Devils in Corvallis.
Trailing 9-3 early in the game, coach Lucas MacArthur’s Devils put together a nine-run third inning to take a 12-10 lead and fought the Blue Devils off the rest of the way to post the big win for Noxon.
“We got the lead, got a couple of shutdowns when we needed them, and got the win,” a happy coach Lucas MacArthur said. “The kids deserved this, they have been putting a lot into this thing so it was good to see them get rewarded like this.”
Sheldon Frank, who pitched two and two thirds innings of strong relief, keyed the third inning uprising with a two-run double and finished the game with two hits and three RBI.
Also pitching a portion of the game and seeming to get better and better offensively as the season progresses, Michael Koskela blasted two doubles and also drove in three runs for Noxon.
The eagle-eyed Red Devils drew 16 walks against Corvallis to set up much of their offense. Jesse Buchanan and Peyton Chambers both had multiple stolen bases for Noxon in the game as well.
In other action last week, Noxon lost 15-1 to Whitefish in Noxon April 28 and 10-0 to Columbia Falls in Columbia Falls Friday.
Flush off the big win over Corvallis, the Devils have three games on tap this week, at Bigfork Tuesday, against Browning in Noxon Thursday and at Polson Saturday.
