These Red Devils are not your everyday, run-of-the-mill athletes; they are Elite 8 Noxon athletes of the track and field kind.
The Noxon Red Devils competed in the Elite 8 meet in Eureka April 28 and came away with several strong efforts, scoring 22 team points on the girls side of the meet and three with the boys.
Sandy Bonney continued her outstanding 2026 campaign by placing in four individual events in Eureka to lead the lady Red Devils, winning the javelin with an outstanding throw of 113-6, taking second in the high jump with a leap of 4-6, second in the 100 meter hurdles (18.18 seconds) and sixth in the shot put (26-1).
Additionally, Bonney just missed placing in the long jump, taking sixth in that event.
Emily Yoder won fifth place in the 100 and 200 meter dashes for the Noxon girls’ other placing points in the Elite 8 meet.
Sagin Doyle (seventh in the shot put) and Georgia Boehme (eighth in the 1600 meters) just missed placing for the Lady Devils.
For the Red Devil boys, Fletcher Sgura won fourth place in the discus (101-2) and sixth place in the shot put (31-4) and Zane Brown claimed fifth in the shot (32-9). Brown also just missed placing points in the 110 meter hurdles and the 200 meters, finishing seventh in both of those races.
This week, coach Matt Havens and his Red Devils head to Missoula for the KLH Invitational at MCPS Stadium Saturday.
