The junior from Coeur d'Alene High finished tied for eighth and earned All-Cascade Collegiate Conference honors as the Warriors won the CCC men's golf championship last week on its home course, the Lewiston Golf and Country Club. West shot a 2-under-par 70 on the final day of the 54-hole tournament to move up four spots to a tie for eighth. He finished at 1-over 217 in the tournament, with four birdies and an eagle in his final round. LC State won its first Cascade Conference title in program history and is the first team to defeat the University of British Columbia in any CCC event, regular or postseason. The Warriors won the conference championship by four strokes with an 8-under total in the final round. LC State finished the three-round tournament with a 12-under-par score of 852. The Warriors advanced to the national tournament for the first time since 2017. The 2026 NAIA Men’s Golf Championship is scheduled for May 12-15 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

Schmidt, a junior pitcher from Coeur d'Alene High and North Idaho College, threw a four-hit shutout for the Owls (41-8) in a 1-0 win over College of Idaho in the Cascade Conference Championships in Klamath Falls, Ore., last Friday. Schmidt was named co-conference Newcomer of the Year after finishing 18-4 with a 1.73 earned run average and a team-high 151 strikeouts. Oregon Tech will host a bracket in the NAIA Championships starting Monday.
