Peggy Ann Vogele passed away peacefully March 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and close friends at Kootenai Memorial Hospital after bravely battling health issues that she had fought for many years. She was 72 years young.

Peggy was born in Ipswich, South Dakota, on Oct. 24, 1953, to Ewin M. and Wilma F. Voegele. When she was a small child the family moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.  After a couple years the family moved again to Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Peggy began her school career in Bonners Ferry, and graduated 12 year senior at BFHS. After graduation she moved back to Coeur d'Alene where she began a long career as head cook at the Iron Horse Restaurant and Lounge. Upon the birth of her son, Bruce; Peggy decided to move back to Bonners Ferry, where as a single mother she would be surrounded by family and friends.

She found work cooking at the Panhandle Restaurant working her way up to head cook. She worked there for many years until her health forced her retirement from the long hours required for restaurant work. Never one to be down for long Peggy reinvented herself again, and began a whole new career working in the Boundary County Prosecutor's Office as an certified liaison for abused women and children working their way through the court system. She continued to work there until her health once again forced her to retire. She also manned the crisis phone line at home frequently wanting to be able to help anyone in need.

After some years it became too hard for her to remain at home, so she moved to Coeur d’Alene to a residential nursing facility where she remained for many years and led a full and active life until the time of her passing.  Peggy loved to cook, play cards, do many crafts, tole paint, adult color, and gardening at the facility was her passion! She loved spending time with family, and friends especially the ya-yas. She made a lasting impact on everyone she met. She always knew which hands to shake, and which hands to hold, and will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.

Peggy is survived by her sister, Pam (Voegele Bryant of Elma, Washington; nieces Hollie Bryant of Elma, Washington, Heidi Vogele of Spokane, Washington, Angela Voegele of Libby, Montana; nephew, Darrell Voegele; grandnieces, Tatum, Josie and Bailey; grandnephews, Cameron, Tryston, Paris; and one great niece, Serenity. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Wilma; brother, Damell and sister-in-law Patty; her beloved son, Bruce; and brother-in-law, Calvin Bryant.

Memorial service will be Friday, June 5, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6784 Cody St., Bonners Ferry; with the interment following at Grandview Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at the Bonners Ferry Eagles No. 3522. It will be a pot luck, your favorite dish will be much appreciated. Let's give Peggy a wonderful sendoff.
