PREP SOFTBALL: Kellogg advances to 3A District 1-2 title game

KELLOGG — Sophomore Bella Schillereff singled to score junior Addison Kunze with the go-ahead run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning as the second-seeded Kellogg Wildcats beat the third-seeded Grangeville Bulldogs 9-6 in the 3A District 1-2 tournament at Kellogg Middle School. 

Sophomore Malena Munoz followed with a two-run double to give the Wildcats a 9-6 lead. 

Kalli Klement hit a two-run home run to give Grangeville a 6-5 lead in the top of the fifth inning. 

Kellogg (15-4) faces Orofino in the championship game on Friday at 5 p.m. in Orofino. 

Grangeville (9-14) faces St. Maries in a loser-out game on Friday in Orofino.

OROFINO — Taryn Brebner and Addilynn Turner had RBIs for the fourth-seeded Lumberjacks in a loss to the top-seeded Maniacs in the 3A District 1-2 tournament at Orofino High.  

St. Maries (4-12) faces Grangeville in a loser-out game on Friday at 5 p.m., with that winner advancing to the second-place game at 7. 

Orofino (16-2) hosts second-seeded Kellogg (15-4) in the championship game on Friday at 5 p.m.
