Good Showing at New Mining Camp: Many Polson People Interested, Others Getting In

A Courier representative made a visit to the mining camp west of town last Sunday and was agreeably surprised at the showing that has been made there in the short time that the camp has been in existence. That there is a big body of mineral there is beyond question, and at the rate it is developing, it looks very much as though there would be a lively camp there in a short time.

The whole district shows signs of mineral, and every man who has started prospecting has succeeded in finding something. New ledges are being uncovered every day, and as more prospectors are coming in all the time, if there are going to be any paying mines there, they will certainly be found before long.

There are a number of tents up at the camp, most of them belonging to Polson men; in fact, the majority of the people interested come from this place. The Durkees have the largest holdings in the district and have done a lot of work on their different claims.

The best-looking claim, perhaps, is the Flerence, a Durkee claim, with a shaft down about thirty feet. At this mine, they now have several tons of ore ready for shipment …

Benefit Dance For Polson Hospital Saturday Night

Saturday night, May 8th, is the date of the Polson General Hospital benefit dance. That this institution is a deserving one goes without saying.

And that it has taken courage on the part of the management to make the venture they have is another self-evident fact. Now it is up to the community to show their recognition of the value of this enterprise, not only to Polson but to this entire section, by giving this benefit substantial patronage.

Polson Lads Lose in Field Meet

Under very unfavorable track conditions last Saturday at Ronan, the athletes from District No. 28, Missoula County, defeated the Polson boys by the score of 50 to 40.
