Barbara Baker Stryker, 75, of Troy, Montana passed away on May 3, 2026, in her home following an extended illness.
Originally from Pennsylvania, she was a graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education (Home Economics major) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and was awarded a Master of Education degree from Penn State University.
Mrs. Stryker truly loved her teaching career and her students. She retired from her teaching position with the Mount Union Area School District in Pennsylvania after 31 years in the classroom.
Barb was well-travelled, having been to over 45 countries and all 50 states. When she was 6 years old, on her first trip “out west” Barb told her mother that someday she would live “out there.” Her favorite trips were with her husband, Chet, and the family canine in their motorhome. Upon her retirement in 2006, the couple packed their belongings and headed west.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Kathryn Baker; and her husband of 32 years, Chet.
She is survived by her brother, Bob Baker (Pam) of Williamsburg, Virginia; her sister-in-law, Christel Stryker Rish of Winter Park, Florida; her caregiver and friend, Don Rusher; and her beloved cat, Sheldon.
Above all, Barb valued her family and friends. Per her wishes, no funeral services will be held. In remembrance of Mrs. Barbara “Barb” Stryker, donations may be made to Kootenai Pets for Life (a no kill animal rescue), P.O. Box 1454, Libby, MT 59935.
Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg and Riddle Funeral Home of Libby, Montana. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.
