James Yarbrough, 86

James Edward Yarbrough, 86, passed away April 25, 2026. He was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Checotah, Okla., to Recel and Elsie (Bookout) Yarbrough.

James lived a full and meaningful life centered on family, hard work and quiet strength. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his kindness and the love he had for those closest to him.

He is survived by his son, Jon (Lori) Yarbrough; his daughter, Kristi (Eric) Kittelson; and his cherished grandchildren, Mykala (Zack) Berntsen, Autumn (Nick) Valentino, Elsie Yarbrough, and Emmett Yarbrough. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Jamyson Gibbs, Rylan Berntsen, Wesley Berntsen and Wren Valentino, who brought him great joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Recel and Elsie Yarbrough.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Creekside Memory Care and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support during his final days.

James will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
