Libby, Troy athletes post wins at Bigfork Invitational

Libby and Troy athletes turned in several strong performances Saturday, May 2, at the Bigfork Invitational, with the Loggers picking up wins on the track and in the distance events and Troy athletes adding top finishes in the sprints, jumps and throws.
Libby’s Cody Watson led the Logger boys with a win in the 3,200 meters, finishing first in a season-best 10 minutes, 8.81 seconds. Watson qualified for state with this performance. He was followed in the same race by Troy’s Kai Brownell, who placed sixth in 12:02.90.
Libby’s Ledger Fortner also had a strong day in the sprints and jumps. Fortner placed third in the varsity 200 meters in a personal-best 23.65 seconds and seventh in the long jump at 19 feet, 2 inches. He also cleared 10-6 in the pole vault to place 10th.
Colter Anderson placed sixth in the varsity 400 for Libby in a personal-best 55.06. He also finished 12th in the 200 in a personal-best 24.85 and fourth in the junior varsity pole vault at 9-6.
Libby’s Porter Hollingsworth won the junior varsity pole vault at 10-0 and added a fifth-place finish in the junior varsity triple jump at 34-3.5. Hollingsworth also finished seventh in the junior varsity 100 in a personal-best 12.88.
In the hurdles, Bridger Moe placed third in the junior varsity 110-meter hurdles in a personal-best 19.05. Moe also tied for fifth in the varsity pole vault at 11-0 and placed ninth in the junior varsity javelin at 101-8. Isaiah Barks placed eighth in the varsity 300 hurdles in 49.75 and third in the junior varsity long jump at a season-best 17-0.5.
Thomas Nelson added a fourth-place finish in the junior varsity javelin for Libby at 110-2 and was seventh in the junior varsity long jump at 16-1. He also placed 16th in the junior varsity 400 in a personal-best 1:02.09. Talon Nordwick placed eighth in the junior varsity discus at 85-8, 12th in the junior varsity shot put at 31-1 and 30th in the junior varsity javelin at 75-10.
For Troy, Michael Gillespie placed sixth in the varsity triple jump at 35-11, 16th in the 200 in a season-best 25.39, 14th in the 400 in 58.67 and 20th in the long jump at 16-5. Brownell added a 14th-place finish in the 1,600 in a personal-best 5:11.99.
Troy’s junior varsity 4x100 relay team of Daniel Rebo, Jarek Eide, Eric Stanton and Conner Powell placed sixth in 1:00.75. Powell also placed 16th in the varsity shot put with a personal-best 35-1.5 and 20th in the varsity discus at 89-7. Rebo was 19th in the junior varsity shot put with a personal-best 28-10, 16th in the junior varsity discus at 79-11 and 28th in the junior varsity javelin at 76-9. Eide placed 25th in the junior varsity shot put at 27-9, 33rd in the junior varsity discus at 66-6 and tied for 31st in the junior varsity javelin at 75-7.
On the girls side, Libby’s Hailey Misner won the varsity 200 meters in a personal-best 26.97 seconds. She also placed fifth in the 100 meters in a season-best 13.40. Libby’s Capri Farmer won the 800 meters in a personal-best 2:21.04.
Troy freshman Aspen Orr had one of the top all-around performances of the meet. Orr placed second in the varsity long jump at 15-9.5, second in the triple jump at 33-9.5, third in the 400 in 1:02.78 and sixth in the 200 in a personal-best 27.90.
Libby’s Alyssa Andersen placed fourth in the junior varsity 100 in a season-best 14.48, eighth in the varsity javelin at 91-4 and 13th in the varsity long jump at 13-6. Sarah Kosters won the junior varsity javelin at 78-10.5, placed fourth in the junior varsity 100 hurdles in 21.11 and seventh in the junior varsity long jump at 12-2.
Ava Jensen placed fifth in the junior varsity 400 in 1:16.11 and third in the junior varsity 1,600 in 6:17.22 for Libby. Elizabeth Wiederhold was 10th in the junior varsity 800 in 3:40.38, while Kyla Lausen placed eighth in the junior varsity 400 in a personal-best 1:22.66 and 27th in the junior varsity discus at 43-8.25.
Troy’s Jaylee Meyers finished ninth in the varsity 800 in 2:52.67 and 14th in the varsity 1,600 in a season-best 6:18.93. Jessie Heileson placed 17th in the varsity 200 in a personal-best 30.29, 19th in the varsity 100 in a personal-best 14.54, 19th in the varsity triple jump at 27-3.25 and 21st in the varsity long jump at 12-7.5.
Troy’s Shyanne Manley placed fifth in the junior varsity shot put with a personal-best 25-1.5, 10th in the junior varsity discus with a personal-best 61-9.5 and 10th in the junior varsity long jump at 12-0. Slyvia Hofer placed fifth in the junior varsity triple jump at 26-1, 15th in the junior varsity long jump at 11-8.75, 27th in the varsity javelin at 57-2 and 28th in the varsity 100 in 15.80.
