Full Name: Heather Garitone
Age: 51
Precinct: Mullan
What do you see as the primary responsibilities of a precinct committeeman, and why are you interested in serving in this position?
It is up to the PC to talk with their neighbors to share information about candidates, encourage voter turnout, and share party initiatives. It involves attending meetings, and assisting in recruiting candidates and volunteers. The PC should represent the views of voters in their precinct to the central committee. Most importantly, PC’s recommend appointments to fill vacancies in the county elected positions.
I ran for this position because I have a love for our county and my community in Mullan. I could bring a positive energy to the committee because of my ability to communicate with people in a way that leaves them feeling respected and heard. I also have a passion for researching and would be an asset with my extensive financial background.
How would you work to engage voters, support party organization, and represent your precinct’s concerns at the county or district level?
My thought was to send out a monthly or even quarterly newsletter of the goings on in the central committee and the county to Republicans in my precinct. I enjoy organizing events and coordinating communication in groups so I would want to serve the central committee in a way that would benefit them while utilizing my talents. I have had some wonderful people who have mentored me throughout my life so I want to find ways to involve young people so that there is a future for the Republican party; a torch to pass down if you will. I’d like to share the values that I grew up with to future generations and help them to be successful.
