Full Name: Julie Hernandez

Age: 45

Political Affiliation: Republican

Office Sought: County Coroner

Family

My husband David and I have been married for 22 years and are blessed to be raising our six children in the Silver Valley where our children can grow up in a safe, close-knit community surrounded by the natural beauty and strong values this area offers. I am a volunteer teacher at our local homeschool coop, and our yard is often filled with neighborhood kids playing together.

Education

B.S. in Biological Sciences, Chemistry Minor – Washington State University (2005) Associate of Science in Nursing – Spokane Community College (2014) Medical/Surgical Nurse Certification (2020)

Professional and Civic Experience

With over a decade in nursing, I’ve worked in forensic nursing at Eastern State Psychiatric Hospital, acute care at Valley and Holy Family Hospitals, and currently work at Shoshone Medical Center. In the community, I have worked as a poll worker, supported the SCRCC through campaigning, meetings, and fundraising, taught a Constitution and civics class at our co-op, and served as a triage nurse at a free medical event in Spokane.

Top Priorities

My top priorities will be public safety, compassionate communication, and ethical leadership. Accurate investigations help protect our community by identifying preventable risks. Most importantly, I will treat every family with honesty they deserve on what is often the worst day of their lives. This isn’t just about determining how someone died — it’s about caring for the loved ones left behind.

Decision Making and Fiscal Responsibility

I will make thoughtful, evidence-based decisions in collaboration with law enforcement and medical professionals. As a steward of taxpayer dollars, I will carefully manage costs for autopsies, supplies and operations while never compromising quality or integrity.

Community Representation and Accountability

I will represent the Shoshone County with professionalism, integrity, and genuine compassion. This office carries profound responsibility of writing the final chapter of a person’s life story. I will speak for those who can no longer speak for themselves, provide honest answers to grieving families, and conduct every investigation with scientific rigor and accuracy while working closely with law enforcement and public health partners. I view this role as a sacred trust. I will remain fully accountable to you, the residents of Shoshone County, through transparent decisions and responsible use of public resources.
