Full Name: Mike Dexter

Age: 75

Political Affiliation: Republican

Precinct: Wallace

What do you see as the primary responsibilities of a precinct committeeman, and why are you interested in serving in this position?

Precinct Committee members are responsible for the efficient operation of the Shoshone County Republican Central Committee. However, while I believe in core Republican values of limited government, limited regulation, and personal responsibility, we are all better served when efficient county government is not threatened by devotion to party over qualified and reasonable governance.

Unfortunately, county governance for our party has been taken over by people who do not have the best interests of our county at heart and are instead driven by self-satisfaction and extreme ideology.

How would you work to engage voters, support party organization, and represent your precinct’s concerns at the county or district level?

The best way I know to engage voters and support party organization is to recruit and support high-quality candidates to represent our party. Then, once the election is over we should encourage the smooth and efficient performance of their duties by the folks we have elected to serve us in the courthouse and the sheriff’s office, regardless of party. This kind of performance would serve as a positive reflection on our party and Shoshone County. If personnel changes are desired then we should pursue them in the next election.

I do not believe our county is well-served when precinct committeemen file lawsuits against our county or serve as a conduit for complaints against Shoshone County to the Attorney General.
