Susan Margaret (Williams) Bristow, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away peacefully April 30, 2026, at the age of 81.
She was born Oct. 22, 1944, to Lyall and Elsie (Guy) Williams in Sandpoint. Susan grew up in Dover until she met and married Garry, they lived in the Dover/Sandpoint area until they moved to Sagle, where they lived for 50-plus years.
She is survived by her husband, Garry Bristow; children Laurie Simonoff (Bob) and Kevin Bristow (Lisa Fontaine); and grandchildren Sean Simonoff, Mikaila (Luke) Teraberry, Ben Bristow (Rudy Pitts-Cranston) and Jeremiah Bristow along with four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Williams; sister Katherine Ricco; and granddaughter Aly Anderson.
Susan married Garry on Sept. 29, 1963, in Sandpoint, Idaho. They celebrated 62 years of marriage last October.
A dedicated and constant presence at Sagle Elementary School for four decades, Susan worked tirelessly in various roles within the school. The library, lunchroom, office and classrooms. Her contributions to the school was beyond measure, and she became an icon within the Sagle community. Generations of students and staff alike benefited from her goodness and unwavering dedication.
Beyond her work life, Susan was deeply involved in her community. She was honored in 2013 by the Women of Wisdom and was a proud Bonner County Cow Belle. She served as a Flower Superintendent at the Bonner County Fair for many years. Her passion for flowers was evident in her stunning flower gardens and the beautiful arrangements she created for the fair and other special occasions. When her children were young, she was involved as a leader in 4-H and Girl Scouts. Susan was also an avid reader.
Susan found joy in crafting greeting cards for all occasions and scrapbooks of and for her family. Most important to Susan was her family. She was fortunate to have them close so she could watch her children and grandchildren compete in many sports activities and to show livestock at the Bonner County Fair.
Those who knew Susan will remember her as a woman of kindness, creativity, and dedication — a true pillar of her community whose legacy will endure through the lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held at the Sagle Senior Center, June 13, 2026, at 2 p.m.
