A Kalispell woman was killed and two others were injured Thursday in a head-on crash on U.S. 93 near Whitefish.

The wreck at mile marker 134 occurred at about 1:38 p.m., according to a report from the Montana Highway Patrol.

A 44-year-old Kalispell woman was driving a Subaru Crosstrek south on U.S. 93 when she lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center line. The Subaru struck a Ford F-350 traveling north.

The Kalispell woman died at the scene. Her passenger, a 14-year-old boy from Kalispell, was transported by helicopter to Logan Health Medical Center with critical injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.

The 40-year-old Olney man driving the pickup was seriously injured and was taken to Logan Health by ambulance. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Road conditions were dry, and speed is a suspected factor in the crash. It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role, the report states.
