EUREKA — Brody Chapman fired a no-hitter Friday as Eureka edged Polson 1-0 in a nonconference matchup in high school baseball.
Polson (9-7) nearly matched the effort behind Cole Wadsworth, who struck out nine over 5 2-3 innings while allowing just four hits and one unearned run. Eureka (7-5) combined for 10 strikeouts in the win.
The game stayed scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning. Leif Burow singled with one out and later moved into scoring position before Eureka loaded the bases after back-to-back Polson errors. Tristan Libby then hit a ground ball that scored Burow.
Chapman struck out nine and walked four.
Polson put runners aboard with four walks and two hit batters but couldn’t break through offensively. Liam Jackson relieved Wadsworth with two outs in the sixth and struck out the only batter he faced to keep the Pirates within one.
