NIC SOFTBALL: Cardinals swept in season finale at CSI

TWIN FALLS — North Idaho College saw its season come to an end after being swept by the 19th-ranked College of Southern Idaho in Scenic West Athletic Conference play on Friday afternoon. 

NIC (15-40, 7-25 SWAC), which began the week in fourth place, fell 14-1 and 13-0 on Thursday, then lost 8-6 and 18-0 Friday to finish fifth in the conference, and also give the Golden Eagles (38-11, 27-5) the right to host the Region 18 Tournament starting Tuesday in Twin Falls.

Utah State-Eastern, which was tied with NIC, split its four-game series with Snow to finish in fourth at 16-28, 9-23, one game behind Snow (16-31, 10-22).

Only the top four teams advance.

Salt Lake (34-10, 27-5) finished tied for first with CSI, but CSI held the tiebreaker for the top seed to regionals.

Aspen Roberts and Chloe Hearrell had two RBIs each in the first game for NIC on Friday. 

In the nightcap, CSI limited the Cardinals to one hit.
