Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 hour, 28 minutes AGO
Sharon Lee Hanks, age 83, of Hayden, Idaho, passed away April 25, 2026, surrounded by family.
Sharon was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Long Beach, Calif., to Harry and Lillian Livesay. She grew up in San Jacinto, Calif., and graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1960. She married Travis L. Hanks in 1960, and together they shared 51 years of marriage. They started their life together in San Jacinto before moving to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in the mid-1970s, where they built a life that would span the majority of those 51 years.
Sharon worked in banking and finance from her early 20s until her retirement in 2007. She was known for her strong work ethic and amazing sense of humor. She was especially fond of her time at First Federal Savings on Front Avenue, where she spent over 20 years of her career. In her free time, Sharon enjoyed horseback riding with Leo, yard sales, thrifting and spending time with her family.
Sharon is survived by her daughters, Renee Lund (Christian) and Tina Turbin (Greg); her son, Scott Hanks (Karen); her grandchildren, Katie, Christopher, Alex, Becca and Travis; her great-grandchildren, Gabe, Owen and Atti; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lillian Livesay; her husband, Leo Hanks; her sister, Beverly Harvey; and her brother, Don Livesay.
A private family celebration will take place later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of North Idaho in memory of Sharon Hanks. The family also wishes to thank Maple Wood Assisted Living of Hayden and Hospice of North Idaho for their care and support.
While her absence leaves an ache, her story leaves something greater, a reminder that love endures, that faith carries us through even the darkest valleys, and that heaven is not just a distant hope, but a promised reunion.
