KCRCC: A political history lesson

I’m responding to the May 6 letter to the editor by Janeen Lawson (who’s lived here all of 12 years) “KCRCC: Republicans with real Kootenai history.” History? Here’s some history.

The KCRCC was taken over roughly 15 years ago by Brent Regan, a guy from California who moved here specifically to meddle in the politics of Kootenai County. A wannabe political kingpin whose only local connections are political. Not only does he chair the KCRCC but also the IFF Board and IDGOP Rules Committee. He’s the guy behind the whole NIC accreditation debacle and the clowns he ushered in to (almost) pull it off. His “vetted” choices are not done by the entire KCRCC Board but by a select handful of malcontent pals. Regan’s “history” is a track record of planting unqualified people in every Kootenai County election.

The North Idaho Republicans were formed to try and pull back true local control of the GOP. Unlike the KCRCC, NIR candidates are qualified and connected to this community.

Sadly, in that same May 6 Press I noted the passing of two men I’ve known all my life, both of who I deeply respected. Don Johnston and John Adams. You want some Kootenai Country history? Read their obits, they epitomize local civic leaders.

Keep that KCRCC postcard handy folks, those are the poor choices you certainly don’t want to vote for. And that’s not just common sense, that’s North Idaho common sense.
