PRIMARY: English’s endorsements
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 hour, 8 minutes AGO
It may seem odd for one of the most well-known Democrats in Kootenai County to endorse Republican candidates in the upcoming primary, but those who know me much at all will know that’s how I roll.
As a former Kootenai County Clerk, Coeur d’Alene School Board member and current Cd’A City Council member (who can’t wait to run again next year), I know how important it is to get qualified people in those positions. Otherwise, it causes financial losses to the taxpayers and lingering negative impacts on our communities and spirits. Not Good.
I endorse John Padula for commissioner. I have known John many years, and we have many things in common, especially in matters of faith and how we believe people should be treated. He is hands down, the best person in that race.
For County Assessor, I chose Allyson Knapp. While I don’t know Allyson personally, I am impressed by her credentials and relevant experience to the job. As County Clerk, you are also the County Auditor. The Auditor, Assessor, and Treasurer are the three key offices that deal with everything pertaining to your assessments, your taxes and your land records. She is my favorite for this spot because of her experience and temperament.
And finally, for County Clerk, I strongly endorse incumbent Jennifer Locke. Of all my Clerk’s offices, my favorite was the elections office. I know our election office inside and out and can testify that Jennifer and her crew, do an excellent job performing clean elections, with great processes in place, and terrific public interactions before, during, and after an election. Jennifer is my one for County Clerk.
