Bulldog baseball rolls past Cats, fall short to Braves

COLUMBIA FALLS — Tait Orme struck out 11 and tossed a complete game as Whitefish rolled past Columbia Falls 10-2 on Thursday in boys Northwest A baseball.
Whitefish (10-5) broke the game open with four runs in the second inning, helped by Drew Queen’s RBI walk, an error that scored two runs and an Orme sacrifice fly. Gavin Knapp added an RBI single in the third inning.
Wyatt Dodson led Columbia Falls (10-4) with two hits, while Jory Hill and Nico Young each drove in a run.
WHITEFISH — Dillon Wink had two hits and four RBIs as Flathead defeated Whitefish 16-5 in high school baseball Friday at Smith Fields.
Wink’s 3-run double in the fourth helped Flathead (7-10) put up a seven-spot and take an 8-2 lead.
Leum Saisbury and Hunter Fann each drove in three runs. Fann also scored twice, going 3-for-4 at the plate.
Finn Ryan drove in a pair of runs in the third inning to give Whitefish (10-6) a 2-1 lead.
Eli Coopman sparked the Braves 8-run sixth with a two RBI single to center.
Liam Rech threw four innings for the Braves, allowing four runs on five hits. He fanned three. Tyson Franchini-White tossed two innings, allowing one run on two hits. The game ended after six innings due to the run rule.
Logan Stewart went three innings for the Bulldogs, allowing one run on five hits.
