PREP ROUNDUP: Inge’s grand slam fuels Sandpoint to 12-2 win over Idaho Falls in 5A Super Regional Championship
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 hour, 41 minutes AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | May 11, 2026 1:00 PM

Sandpoint 12, Idaho Falls 2 (5)
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint's historic season continued on Saturday afternoon at War Memorial Field.
Senior Dallen Williams struck out seven batters across four quality innings on the mound, senior Coleman Inge launched a grand slam home run to cap off an 8-run first frame, and the No. 2 Bulldogs struck early in a run-rule victory over the No. 11 Tigers to claim the 5A Super Regional North Qualifier Championship.
Senior Mason Little hit an RBI single, junior Jack Schriber recorded a two-run double, and Medeiros reached on an error to score a run as the Bulldogs got out to a quick 4-0 lead before Inge smashed his second career home run to deep right field to push the lead to eight runs. Senior Soren Caprio chipped in an RBI single in the second inning and Sandpoint plated two more runs in the third via an error and an RBI groundout. In the fifth, Schriber was met at home plate by his teammates after he induced the run-rule with a deep sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Little, who walked earlier in the frame.
Williams, who was also 3-for-4 at the plate with a trio of singles, reached his 100th career strikeout during his outing on the rubber, in which he threw 51 of his 82 pitches for strikes. Shaw struck out two batters of his own during a relief inning on the bump.
Treygan Riedle and Hudson Palmer both had two hits, including a double apiece, for Idaho Falls, which finished the season with a record of 14-13-1. The Tigers upset No. 7 Hillcrest, who they lost to three times earlier in the season, by a score of 8-4 earlier in the day to advance.
No. 2 Sandpoint (22-2), which has won 14 games in a row, will face off against No. 3 Twin Falls in the first round of the 5A State Championship tournament series at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls on Thursday. The four-team series, which also includes No. 1 Bonneville and No. 4 Skyview, will be played in a double elimination format and will conclude on Saturday. The Bulldogs, making their first appearance at state since 2022, will be seeking their first state title since 2006.
