Lovett rolls to victory at Senior Pan American Championships

CORALVILLE, Iowa — Former Post Falls High star wrestler Ridge Lovett, competing for Team USA, won the 70kg division at the Senior Pan American Championships last weekend. Lovett, an NCAA champion as a senior at the University of Nebraska and now wrestling for the Nebraska Regional Training Center and Titan Mercury Wrestling Club, pinned Victor Soto Rivera of Puerto Rico in 1 minute, 28 seconds in the finals. 

Earlier in the tournament, Lovett defeated Michael Zale of Canada by technical fall, 10-0; teched Francisco Gonzalez Torres of Mexico 10-0 and advanced past Mauricio Lovera of Argentina via medical forfeit.  

Team USA won the event scoring 240 of a possible 250 points. The USA had eight champions and two silver medalists. 

Two weeks ago, Lovett won the men’s freestyle senior 70k division at the U.S. Open Championships in Las Vegas. 

Next for Lovett is the Real American Freestyle 9 tournament May 30 in Dallas, Texas.
