Arla Haugen Herman Wilson, 80, of Columbia Falls, Montana, went to be with Jesus on April 23, 2026 from complications of an autoimmune disorder. She was born Nov. 23, 1945, in Hannaford, North Dakota, to Millard and Sylvia (“Sue”) Haugen. She lived her life with belief, hope, and assurance of HIS sacrifice and now rests in HIS presence, where she will spend eternity praising and worshiping Jesus.
Arla grew up in North Dakota with her siblings Sonny, Milt, and Marsha, later making her home in Montana in Plains and Columbia Falls. She married Don Herman in 1961 and had three children: Dallas, Donelle, and Dale. She later shared a lifelong partnership with John Taft for over 50 years, together raising their blended family, including Johnna and Martinique.
Arla was known for her outgoing personality, quick wit, deep faith, and generous heart. She worked 50 years at Crouch Jewelry and many years at the Vista Linda, where she formed lifelong friendships. If she saw a need, she met it—giving rides, opening her home, and she was known for sharing her faith and encouraging others.
She loved her family deeply and desired that they know Jesus personally and walk in a strong faith. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Bible Study Fellowship for over 35 years.
She is survived by her children, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, extended family, and is reunited in heaven with loved ones, including her parents and her beloved sister, Marsha.
Arla wanted a private family burial to be held at a later date. Columbia Mortuary is caring for the family
