Bravettes bomb Bison to earn split in Great Falls

GREAT FALLS — In Game 2, the Bravettes broke out the bats. 

Held to three hits and a 5-1 loss to Great Falls CMR, Flathead pounded out 19 hits, including three extra-base hits by Olivia Nyman, and beat Great Falls High 19-3 to conclude a doubleheader and the Eastern AA opponents Tuesday. 

Flathead is 6-12 heading into a Thursday game at Missoula Hellgate on Thursday at 3 p.m.

Lily Anderson homered and drove in four runs for the Bravettes; her RBI double put Flathead up 7-0 in the second inning and her three-run homer made it 10-0 in the fourth. 

Nyman hit an RBI double to spark a three-run first inning for the Bravettes; she hit a solo home run that made it 11-2 in the fifth inning and an RZBI double during Flathead’s seven-run seventh inning. 

Tegan Strauss added two doubles from her leadoff spot, and scored twice. June Stickney had three hits and scored three times. Nyman scored four runs. 

Macey McIlhargey went the distance in the circle, allowing seven hits and two walks. She fanned none.

Stickney threw six solid innings for the Bravettes, allowing seven hits, four walks and three earned runs while fanning five. Problem was Flathead couldn’t break through against Rustler hurlers Ella Cron and Myli Adams. 

Cron allowed one hit in 4 2-3 innings, along with eight walks. She struck out nine. Adams got the final seven outs, allowing a two-out  RBI single to Strauss in the seventh; she fanned three Bravettes.
